Must See: Wren's Coffee

I LOVE coffee shops. Not your average chain coffees like Starbucks or Dunkin, the small business stores where everything is handmade and unique, and the interior is super unique. I study at the coffee shop in my college town all the time, and when I'm at home I always make time to stop by Backyard Beans (iykyk!). I just love the atmosphere of them, and how relaxing and cozy they can be. So of course, I made sure to scope out some around London, but the one I went to last week takes the (coffee) cake!

Wren's Coffee, located just a block away from Saint Paul's Cathedral, is a church-turned-café with delicious coffee, and it is one gorgeous venue! Stained glass windows, high ceilings, and even the altar with additional seating. As an interior designer, adaptive reuse is something I always advocate for. The ability to recycle an old or abandoned space and create a brand new concept out of it to be used again in society is something that should be done more often! We have to appreciate and acknowledge the past in order to live the future, after all. And older architecture has a right to be preserved and marveled for years to come while fitting into such a modern society!

Anyways, where was I? Right! I was sitting at a table in the corner, there was soft acoustic music playing, and there wasn't a lot of people around, so it was pretty quiet. I was able to concentrate on my internship work and get a lot done, all the while admiring my surroundings. And how could I not? See for yourself!

The setup does not take away from the grand elements such as the columns and beautiful arched windows, but it makes the space feel more complete. Such a great concept! Do check this gem out for yourself if you're there!
